Little boy bed transformation

You may remember I bought some paint last weekend, but didn't have an idea of what I was going to paint.  Well, one of the projects I had been meaning to tackle was my sons bed.  It was something we inherited with the house.  Here it is in all its glory. The bed is sturdy and practical, but I'm sorry to say, I hate the grain and knots, UGH.
Initially I was thinking of painting it his favorite color, orange.  I must have known that orange was not the right color.  That must have been the reason why I had not gotten around to it.  Instead I settled on his new favorite color....Blue.
I love how this shade of blue highlights the detail on the bed, where the wood grain before hid it.  The color I used is Sherwin William Tempe Star SW6229.
And the best part of this is the cost of the transformation, $3.00 (the cost of a To GO sample of paint).

What do you think?  Is this an improvement?

I am holding off on showing the rest of the room for the House Tour.

  4. Very pretty! We have 3 of those beds in that awful orangey wood color, so this would be a great option for us too. Thanks for the idea!
