Painted sub-floor upgrade- stripes

I have been busy tweaking the living room.  The biggest changes have been the floor and the wall color.  It is all in the move to get to my interpretation of Scandinavian Country.  Let me reiterate..my interpretation.
Here is my most recent before shot to remind you how the floor look before the stripes...

 And again, the after...
Are you loving the stripes?  I am.

You probably have noticed  few other changes.

The wall went from Whisper Yellow to Duck White.
I love the new color- it has a chalkiness to it that I wasn't sure I was going to find.

I also replaced the big black box with an old dresser.

It really opens the corner and lightens things up.  The bottom drawer had a little accident, so until I am able to get it repaired, I made a little shelf to store our beloved Tivo.

I am hoping to be rocking a new flat screen soon.

I also made a few changes to the tables, but I am saving that for another post.

  5. LOVE it!!! Really, it looks wonderful. I have my floors painted white, but they are a terrible mess...TERRIBLE. Sorry, I'm not yelling, just stressing. ;-)

Anyway, I should repaint with stripes. What fun! Did you put a clear sealer coat on top of the paint?

  26. Love the stripes! They totally make the room in my opinion. I recently came up with the great idea to paint our plywood subfloors in all of the common areas of our house. I was crusing the internet looking for inspiration and found your site. Just wanted to let you know, I really appreciate all the tips and advice you give. And I included your stripey floors in my post about floor inspiration. Thanks for sharing!

  27. Your striped floors are simply beautiful. No arguing that it's your interpretation of a Scandinavian countryside! Painting floors can be tiring yet enjoyable at the same time and just imagine the feeling of accomplishment! For some though, they'd have to depend on service providers (like one flooring Houston company in my area). Looking at posts of painted floors is truly inspiring!

  28. Wonder if you could make the floor look like planks of wood? I painted the top of my steps with a paint process that used a goldish color paint - then a brown stain with a graining tool - then dabbed stain on to fill in the grain - then the poly on top. Looks very much like hardwood. Have wanted to pull my carpet up in my bedroom, family room, living room and dining room and have been patiently waiting for hardwood floors - but am now getting impatient waiting - so maybe I'll start tearing up the carpet - only problem is - once you do you can't look back - and it certainly is a lot of work. Good for you!!

  29. Simple stripes can really bring a far better look than having none on the floor. Such stripes can really harness a kind of feeling like excitement, romance, nostalgia, or any other else. With the right combination of colors, people will surely be eager to come and take a closer look for themselves.

  30. This certainly looks fantastic! I never thought that striped painted floors will look so great. We have wooden floors and I have just generated a wonderful idea from this post. Thank you so much.

  31. This is pretty cool. The stripes are amazing and these just create an illusion of having more space. Floor painting is indeed a great way to make changes around the house. The color of the wall is also wonderful because it can go with any home decoration. Thank you for sharing this amazing post.
