What Caught My Eye-King Oliver's Creole Jazz Band

I'm one of those people who always has the television on.  If not the tv then I have a podcast, NPR, an audio book or some kind of talking.  I think I like the chatter.  I like the background noise.  Lately, I have been srteaming Documentaries off Netflix when I need something.

This morning I had on Jazz: A Film by Ken Burns, and this photo came screaming off the screen.
King Oliver's Creole Jazz Band
I love the motion and feeling of this photo.  To me it is all about the girl.  I am sure King Oliver may be sad to hear this, but I am drawn to her.

That is what's inspiring me today.

Take a listen

Hello Laurie and many thanks for your Little Blue Chairs--they are sweet. I caught your posting of the King Oliver photo, and I thought you might like to know I'm writing a biography of Oliver and could put you on my mailing list if you like. Oliver was a central figure in early New Orleans jazz (what I like to call "the original rock and roll") and was best known as Louis Armstrong's mentor. The Sobbin' Blues YouTube you chose is a good one--a favorite of mine.

Here's a recent article I did on Oliver: http://www.nejazz.com/GerlerKO.htm. Let me know if I should put you on my list!

    All best regards,
