What caught my eye...Louis Comfort Tiffany's private studio

I really should title this one, "What caught my imagination".  Let me explain.

I recently picked up a novel called "Clara and Mr. Tiffany", a novel about Louis Comfort Tiffany and his designer Clara Driscoll.  I am only about a third of the way through, so I won't comment on the novel, but I was inspired to check out the private studio of Louis Tiffany after reading her description.

She describes the ceiling being 45 feet above the floor, dripping with a "dizzing array of mouth-blown globes and heavy glass lanterns in Near Eastern shapes hung on ornate chains."  And the chains were not regular chains but instead were adorned with figures in cast iron of various animals and human forms.

I wish I could have seen it in color.  I am sure it was stunning.  Unfortunately the home was torn down in the late 30's.  But it sure does inspire.  Does it inspire you?

Fabric Dictionary

A few weeks ago I shared how to make a fabric covered binder.
And as fun as it was to make, there was a specific reason why I created this.  It is the cover of my Fabric Dictionary, that I was asked to create for a school project.

What is a Fabric Dictionary?  It is a collection of fabrics with descriptions and uses.  Mine focuses on interior fabrics, but I am sure you create one for apparel fabrics as well.

Just take a look. it is chock-full of pages, it is bursting at the seams.

Lets take a look inside...
First there is the glossary which gives descriptions of interior fabrics.

Followed by a page for individual fabrics.

Under the fabric I have a description of the sample and uses for each fabric.

Here are some other pages.

This is what has been keeping me busy.

Next big project on deck is interpreting this painting into a fabric and mixed media piece.
I am hoping that after this,  I will finally get the basement finished.
